   We have just had the Horse & Hounds awards and how fantastic it was for Jackie and I to come home with something.  

    

   I had organised to go to the Ball to support Jackie in her Leading Groom nomination, I knew she was in with a good chance but there was stiff competition. Also Team Japan had been nominated and I was very optimistic that they could have won the Team Award, being the first ever Japanese team to win an Eventing medal.

   I was certainly not there expecting to be receiving anything myself and I had never considered who might receive the Lifetime Achievement one.  As it turned out Alice had known all about it and had got some amazing riders to say some very nice things, and I felt very honoured to have been acknowledged in such a way.  It was obviously a very privileged position to find myself in but I was particularly proud that Jackie had been acknowledged for her incredible 31 years of running my stables.  It was great to have friends and family there sharing the moment.  I had wondered why my mother and mother-in-law were there, but thought it was supporting Jackie and Kazu!
