Withington - Advanced day
Day two at Withington was also a very happy one. It was great to have my old boys out again, and we were very lucky that the forecast rain didn’t come and the ground stayed very good.
Chilli Morning did a very decent dressage to lead his section on a score of 27.6. He rolled a pole in the show jumping and had a couple of time faults which were totally my fault, and gave me a great ride cross country. He was again very relaxed and didn’t pull, he was also very straight and genuine. I didn’t hurry him so he got quite a few time faults, and he finished 9th.
Cool Mountain also had a good day, he was 3rd in his dressage arena and scored 28.7, he did a nice test and just made a couple of expensive mistakes. He then jumped a nice clear show jumping, and I let him run on a bit cross country for just 22 time faults, and he finished in 5th place.
Oslo was having his first Advanced run since Badminton 2013 and he felt a total old pro. He did a good test of 29.7, jumped a lovely clear show jumping and was in the lead in his section, but again I took him nice and steadily and he ended up in a very creditable 8th. He felt as good as ever and just took everything in very easily, nothing is a question for him and he is such a privilege to be able to ride cross country.
It was a good Advanced course, the distances were more level than on the 2* track, but it was very decent and did cause a fair bit of trouble through the day, so I was very happy to have had three good Advanced runs under my belt on three amazing old pros.
