Tattersall's - Sunday roundup

Last day at Tatts was a little bit hit n miss.  Things were getting a bit quieter for our team with only three horses competing.  The day started well with all the trot ups going to plan, the horses looked very well after yesterday.

The first one out was Yes I Can with his 2*. He had dropped a bit with his cross country yesterday but I wasn't at all concerned about that.  He felt great and jumped a very classy round, the course perhaps wasn't one of the most technical but he really jumped as well as he does in a normal one day.  So I think he moved up the order a few places to 27. 

So that was the day off to a good start.

It was then onto Bay My Hero for the cross country and he was on a good slot.  The course looked very inviting and jumpable so I was just concerned about not getting any time faults.  He, totally out of character, ended up having a freak fall in the last water, he was giving me the most foot perfect  round and was comfortably doing the time, but he just jumped the angle in the water awkwarkardly and threw me out the side door.  This is the first fall I have ever had off him. He perhaps shouldn't have jumped the hedge awkwardly but I shouldn't have fallen off, but things happen....  Very frustratingly he would have won as the eventual winner had quite a few time faults and Bay My Hero wouldn't have had.  Anyway we have all got to move on and be grown up about it, but it did put Team Fox-Pitt quite in the dumps.

It was then onto Little Fire's show jumping; I jumped him in the morning with Chris Bartle which was very helpful and I hoped it might help him with his concentration.  They changed the 3* course and it was quite a beefy track. He jumped a superb clear, really coping well with so much to look at, but he felt class and it moved him up two places to second.  In fact he was first equal on scores, but one of my time faults yesterday cost me the win because the nearest time meantIzzy went ahead of me.  Izzy Taylor did a fantastic job on Maggie May and was lucky, and it was certainly meant to be her day.  

Little Fire was very within himself and had a fantastic week. What is exciting is that thereis so much more to come in the dressage he will easily one day be on a 22!!  As he has done the last two years at Tattersalls he was very on his toes and the adrenalin was pumping, but the good thing this year was that he coped really well with the excitement, and despite the heart pumping a bit he performed brilliantly.

Jean Mitchell and the Tattersall's team really did a sterling job and exceeded everyone's expectations with the biggest entry ever.  It is quite crazy what they undertake but they really carried off.  The only thing I am going to persuade Jean to do is to have the prize giving straight after the classes to get it all done, coming back a few hours later is not an easy one.

Poor Jonty Evans had a really unlucky fall at the same fence that Bay My Hero fell at and he has had a bang on the head and is suffering from some concussion, hopefully he will be ok.

Ellie Guy's first 1* experience at Tattersalls went very well. She put in a lovely clear inside the time and would have come on with loads of experience.

Josh Noakes had a very classy cross country ride which was great, but wasn't quite so lucky with his show jumping today.  However lots will have been learnt.

We are now all on the trip home for a couple of days breath and then it is Bramham.
