An exciting Day Two at Gatcombe!
Horses all went well on day 2 at Gatcombe.
Chilli had a fantastic win in the Advanced, he show jumped a good clear and gave me an excellent ride Cross Country. Chilli was fortunate to be 6 marks ahead after Show Jumping so we could afford 8 time faults and still win.
Seacookie rolled a pole in the Show Jumping but otherwise his round was good, and he was great in the Cross Country incurring 15 time faults. He always seems to enjoy Gatcombe and once again gave me a lovely ride.
I was really pleased with Running Order who finished 5th behind Chilli. He had a fence down Show Jumping which was unlucky but his round was excellent. I am very excited as his Cross Country seems to be coming together nicely and he gave me a great feel with just 8 time faults.
Henton for Fun had a slightly frustrating day in that things didn’t quite go his way. But I was delighted with how well he coped, he was very unlucky to have a fence down Show Jumping because he jumped really well. His 4 faults was quite expensive so there seemed no point putting my foot down Cross Country, so I took him quietly for the experience.
Fernhill Pimms did his dressage for the Intermediate Championships and did a superb test to score 23, and be in the lead.
Freddie Mac was sadly a little on edge and made a few mistakes leaving him on a score of 34.
It has been a very busy day, and tomorrow will be the same with Neuf De Coeurs kicking off proceedings at 9am in the Open Championships. Let's hope things go as well as they have done today!
