It was certainly a mixed day and the 2020 season did start but then it stopped!
Centurian Bay was my only horse to have completed the event, and he had a very pleasing day. He had a nice run in the 100open. He did a very respectable dressage after quite a long time since his last event. He ended up with a score of 29. Show jumping went very well and he was was pretty relaxed considering it’s the first time he has jumped on grass since last year. It was annoying to have the last fence down but I was pleased with how he went. The cross country was a breeze, he flew round very comfortably. The course was very demanding, but it was a good one to get started on.
Little Fire and Oratorio were in the OI and they got to do their dressage and show jumping before the whole event was suddenly abandoned. It was a very unpleasant day with persistent rain and cold wind, and I guess the ground on the cross country just did not hold up. I went early on Centurian Bay and the ground held up so it was a real shame that it didn’t last.
Little Fire is always on his toes at Tweseldown, but this year he was a little bit less dramatic and did a very nice test in the bog with no dramas, and he then show jumped a lovely clear. He was very excited to be out and the arena was the size of a postage stamp so I was very happy not be jumping on string.
Oratorio was on very grown up form and did a pleasing test of 31. He was superbly relaxed and happy to be out. He then show jumped really well for a clear and was not too onward bound.
So at least those two had an outing but we will be heading to Bulbarrow tomorrow to do some cantering work.
The event was then cancelled before Atlantic Vital Spark did his dressage.
On a different note, sadly it has come to our attention that event details and results are now very hard to follow on the internet. We are all missing BDWP and I hope that British Eventing get on with making the whole thing work, at the moment it is unintelligible. Hopefully this is not too big an ask.
