Gatcombe Advanced - Sunday
Yes I Can followed up on his pleasing dressage test with a superb clear show jumping. He really jumped well and felt back to his best. Not that he hasn’t been jumping well but he has been knocking some jumps down.
He was still lying second place after show jumping and I set off round the cross country in a good attacking way, and he gave me a fantastic round but I did get more time faults than I expected. I obviously didn’t hurry him down the hills and that is probably where I wasted time. But I was certainly not going slowly, and with his time faults he did well to finish 6th. It was a great run to have had in the build up to Blenheim, and I am very pleased with how he is so far feeling in the second half of the season.
All in all Gatcombe was quite a success, with all three horses jumping a double clear. Little tweaks to the dressage are needed, and with a bit more speed cross country they would all have finished higher up the order.
