Larkhill
It was good day out in the sunshine today at Larkhill. By all comparisons it felt almost hot!
Overall I had a very pleasing day with Brass Monkey and Top Biats competing in their first Novice.
Brass Monkey continues to improve on the flat to score 30.5 in his test, which was in contention. He had one fence down show jumping and ate up the cross country but I took him round steadily for a few time faults.
Top Biats did another good dressage test but only managed to score 30 this time. Which sounds a little disappointing given his form. He jumped a lovely clear in the show jumping, always an achievement on the side of the hill and unfortunately incurred 20 penalties across country. He frustratingly tripped coming out of the sunken road and almost came down so I had to turn circle before presenting to the D element. He was otherwise very good and gave me an excellent ride.
Henton For Fun had a very good day scoring 28 in the dressage in his novice section. He then jumped a very accomplished double clear but picked up a couple of time faults across country which was expensive, however he still managed to be in the money.
Nicholas Bordas had a very pleasing day on Shacklesborough competing in his second novice. He did a 36 dressage, had two down show jumping and had a very confident round across country. Nicholas was delighted how he felt and is looking forward to riding him again at Bovington.
