Aston Le Walls
It was Aston Le Walls weekend instead of former Barbury and whilst it is very sad to have lost Barbury, hopefully temporarily, Aston Le Walls stepped up to the mark. There is another new all weather arena which is massive and amazing, and the 3* cross country course was very inviting. It asked a few questions but it was very tame. The ground was excellent, even though they had some rain they had still spiked and watered, and the riders were really appreciative of how much had been put in to ensure the Aston expected top conditions.
I only had Duke Legacy to ride and he had a very satisfying weekend. He did a decent dressage to score a 26. The judges were marking very positively and it was great to have him up amongst the leaders. He then jumped an excellent show jump which moved him up into 4th place, and he followed that with a faultless cross country to finish inside the time and on his dressage score in third place. There were 109 starters so team Duke Legacy were pretty happy. It was his first round since Bicton and I am very pleased with how well he has come back from his first 3L. The plan now is to aim for Hartpury 3*.
