Richard Meade

The horse world has just received the tragic news of Richard Meade's death.  I am devastated for his wife Tiddles and the family and send my deepest sympathy and best wishes.

Richard Meade, one of Eventings all time greats, played a huge part in my career.  When I started competing he was at the top of his game, and a true example to us all.  Later on as a judge he was influential and always very generous and wise.  He was a true horseman, and was able to get the best from his horses.  He had a great feel and was able to pass on his knowledge through his generous involvement with the sport.

Richard was very supportive to me, and made particular effort to give up-and-coming riders real encouragement.  He always took time to say a few words and I will remember how positive and precise he was with his cross country advice.

I will hugely miss him, as will the Equestrian world.
