Gatcombe - Saturday
Cafre Lunar Eclipse was having another run in the Novice at Gatcombe, and he had a pretty satisfactory day. He did a nice dressage to be up there on 25, which was great as there were a couple of things that could have been better. In the show jumping he had a couple of fences down which is annoying, but he jumped a good round. On the cross county he popped round nicely making at all feel very easy.
I always talk about Gatcombe cross country being rather similar, and this year the Novice was no exception, but the good thing is you know where you are going. However I have noticed with new course designer Mark Phillips there are a few changes to the 2* which is exciting.
In the 1* I had Georgisaurous, and he was in a very good frame of mind which was particularly encouraging after his tension at Bicton. He did a lovely mistake free test, with a few green moments and scored 43 which wasn't amazing but has got him in the top 10.
FC Torino was there hoping to get his 2* qualification and did a very nice pleasing test with no mistakes, and he is also on 43. There are a couple of good tests in the 30's but he is very much in contention, and with more to come he has put in a very satisfying round.
The ground at Gatcombe is very good, however there were one or two downpours today so we now don't need any more rain ahead of tomorrow!
