Cornbury - Friday
Despite the hugely sad news of the Queen's death Cornbury decided to go ahead. To be fair to them the competition had started yesterday, and they did have the blessing of the Princess Royal.
Cornbury has a huge reputation for being a wonderful event and today did not disappoint. It was very exciting that it had rained and the going was perfect.
My day didn't quite go to plan but it was a very productive outing;
Cayiano and Lamborghini found themselves in the 2* because they were balloted out of the Novice, so they were quite surprised to find themselves doing tests in the big arena. I was very pleased with how they coped; Lamborghini got a 32 and Cyiano got a 30, naturally lots of room for improvement.
Yes I Can was having his last run before Boekelo. I was pleased with his dressage and he got a normal mark, but from the judge we had there I didn't expect much different.
He jumped another foot perfect round of show jumping, but on the cross country he uncharacteristically clipped a fence nearly unseating me, so my only option was to do a circle to get myself back in the saddle. He naturally ended up with a 20, but he in no way had any cross country faults. Because the ground was so good I pushed on a bit, it was actually the first time I moved him on since Bramham so it was a great training run pre-Boekelo.
Tomorrow I have got my other Boekelo horse Moonlight Charmer having a run, and I have got my 2* horses jumping and cross country. I am certainly looking forward to being back in that beautiful Park.
