It was a jolly hot Aston day but we survived. They had done an amazing job on the ground, with watering and spiking, but with the best will in the world it certainly dried out.
I had Oratorio out just for a combined training outing and he was on tremendous form with a 22 and clear - hopefully all ready for Burghley.
Duke Legacy having another Intermediate run, he did a very pleasing test to score 31. His show jumping was a bit of a mishap, whether it was the heat or the ground I have no idea but certainly it was fairly annoying. But I was very pleased with his cross country round which felt very accomplished and easy.
Moonlight Charmer was also having a nice run and did a pleasing test of 28. He rolled a pole in the show jumping and gave me a good feel cross country. I was very pleased with how he had come out of and on from Burgham.
Yes I Can was having his first run since Bramham and had a very satisfying day. He felt good getting a 27 in his dressage, a 4 in the show jumping but with a good round, and a lovely easy clear cross country.
Valerie Vizcarrono Pride, who is now based with us until Blenheim, was having her first run in the country and she had a very satisfactory day. Her dressage was all good and she did a solid double clear. She was very pleased and her next run is in the Advanced at Wellington so she will have had a good start.
