Larkhill
Saturday at Larkhill opened with miserable rain which was a real shame, but happily it did blow over.
Dynasty had another excellent Novice run finishing third in his section, just pipped by 0.2 for another win. He did a lovely test but a little break in his medium trot proved expensive. I was very happy with his show jumping round, a really good clear, particularly as the course and the terrain at Larkhill is always very testing. He was excellent cross country finishing clear inside the time, he has had a few runs this season and is really beginning to establish which is very exciting.
Little Fire had one of those frustrating days. His dressage was once again more concentrated, he did make one or two small mistakes and he only ended scoring 34.8. His show jumping again was very good, he had an unlucky pole. However I was very pleased with how he coped with the ring. His cross country was good despite being given a 20 for hesitating when dropping into the sunken road. The distance in the sunken road is desperately short so I asked him to 'whoa', which he did, so it was jockey error and he certainly did nothing wrong as far as he knows.
Larkhill is always a very exciting course to ride, but some of the distances came up pretty short for my two.
