Cornbury - Saturday
Saturday at Cornbury was also a bit of a mixed day; Cayiano completed his first FEI competition very professionally. He was unlucky to knock the last fence down, he just ended up too deep and nothing could be done. He then flew around the cross country very genuinely. He really enjoyed the ground and although I was slow it was good to attack. He ended up with 10 time faults.
I came totally unstuck on Lamborghini in the show jumping; she slipped on the double and we crunched, so she did not end up doing much.
It was then on to Moonlight Charmer for his last pre Boekelo run. I was very pleased with his dressage of 30, he rolled a pole in the show jumping being a little lazy and flew around the cross country for 6 time faults. It was the first time I let him go on a bit and it was great to have been able to do that on some good ground ahead of Boekelo.
The Cornbury team put on a terrific and full-on weekend. It was certainly an event that we are incredibly grateful to have back. It offers so much for the horses and is a vital part of the Autumn programme for many horses.
