Hatherleigh
So after a very enjoyable week away it was back with a bang today eventing at Hatherleigh. I think it was actually hotter at Hatherleigh than in Majorca!
Henton For Fun was running in his first Intermediate and had a very good outing to finish 2nd. He did another excellent test to score 26, jumped a superb round show jumping and felt very within himself across country. I didn’t hurry him as the ground was quite firm and he still only picked up 10 time faults. I was really delighted with him and his second place has also qualified for the Intermediate Championships at Gatcombe next year which is great.
Fernhill Pimms gave another very pleasing performance in the Open Intermeidate to finish 4th. He led the dressage on 24 and jumped a solid double clear. He is now beginning to feel much more like my horse and I was more than happy with his 4th place as he picked up 11 time faults.
Before Time was having his first outing since the CIC*** at Bramham and also had a good day finishing 6th in his Open Intermediate section. He scored 31 in the dressage, he wasn’t quite at his best but he was not bad at all. He show jumped very well and gave me a lovely ride across country with 9 time faults.
The Hatherleigh team had done a great job, doing their best to prepare all the courses and given the hot week we have had the ground couldn’t have been better. They had even aggravated the dressage warm up and it was a huge help having the show jumping warm up on a surface.
