We had a very successful and enjoyable day at Aldon on Friday with all five horses doing good test sand jumping double clears.

Top Biats continued his winning run with a very smart win in the BE100, finishing on his dressage score of 16.5.  He felt very established and seems to find it all very easy.  His next run will be in the novice at Somerley and hopefully he will take the step up in his stride.

Brass Monkey finished 6th in his section on his dressage score of 32.   He is progressing well and is also aiming for his first novice at Somerley.

It was a first novice run for Shacklesborough at Aldon and I could not have been more delighted with him finishing 6th.  He scored 33 in his dressage and hs show jumping was excellent, particularly in the difficult conditions.  Across country he felt very genuine and confident.

Deli Star Hero was having another novice outing and was much more settled in the dressage to score 30.  I took him quietly across country and he will be aiming for the open Intermediate at Somerley next time out.

Henton For Fun produced another very good test to sit in joint first on 29.5.  He jumped a very good clear show jumping but sadly a lapse of concentration on the jockeys part in me missing a very straightforward fence on the cross country resulted in him being eliminated. Having already been around the course once I am not quite sure how I managed such a blank however, he went extremely well and would probably have only been in the minor placing’s as I did not put my foot down.

The Aldon team as always had done a superb job on the course but sadly the very good ground in the morning turned into an increasing mud bath as the day progressed, sadly resulting in the abandonment of the novice classes today.  Hopefully things will look up for them tomorrow but meanwhile Jackie, Nicholas and I are heading up to Lincoln with four horses for the open intermediates tomorrow and hoping that conditions are not too bad up there.
