Lincoln
Miraculously Lincoln managed to survive a horrendous weekend of weather to run today.
So I was very relieved to be able to get a good run into my first horses although sadly by the afternoon conditions had deteriorated and I decided not to jump Seacookie after a very respectable test of 27.
It was a big day for Cool Mountain having his first competition after a year off. He was very happy to be out a did an excellent test to score 26.8 and lead the dressage in his section. He followed that up with a confident double clear showing no signs of rust and picking up 18.4 time penalties to finish 8th. I was particularly happy that he felt so fit, although I took him very slowly as the course was a long way and the ground was pretty taxing.
Parklane Hawk did an excellent dressage of 29.1. He rolled a couple of poles in the show jumping but jumped well overall and went very well across country. I took him dead slowly, picking up nearly 40 time penalties but he was the last of my three rides and conditions were deteriorating fast.
Lionheart did a very pleasing dressage for him at this time of the season scoring 30.5. The rider managed to have a major blank in the show jumping, turning the wrong way and incurring 16 times faults but he jumped superbly and as always his cross country round felt fantastic. He was as exuberant as ever and didn’t seem to notice the ground at all.
The Lincoln team were fairly up against it and could not have worked harder in making the day happen. All the dressage arenas were moved, as were the show jumps which is, as always, hugely appreciated by the riders and their horses. I felt very lucky to have made the trip up there and to at least have had three good runs as it was very sad to hear that Aldon fell victim to such a filthy weekend of rain.
