Dauntsey
We are just returning from a boiling day at Dauntsey where I had three in the Novice classes.
Top Biats did a very good test to score 27 and jumped a nice double clear, but I took him quietly for 16 time faults. He has had a couple of quicker runs recently so it would have done him the world of good to have had an easier run.
Luxury FH did a much better dressage this time to score 25 which left him in 2nd place. He jumped a good clear in the show jumping but I decided to take him quietly across country as it was so hot.
I was pleased with Deli Dynamic’s score of 28. He also jumped a lovely clear show jumping and felt excellent across country, again picking up a few time faults.
The horses coped surprisingly well in the heat and Beanie Sturgis and her team had done a fantastic job watering the courses and putting some landings down. I thought the Novice course was superb: very educational and with a terrific variety of questions, so it was a very good run for them all to have had.
I am now off to Kent for a few days as my younger sister Alicia gets married this weekend, but next week we will be preparing for a busy weekend at Wilton where I have nine horses out over the two days.
