Weston Park
It was a very good cross country day all round at Weston Park yesterday.
Soltaire Justice was comfortably inside the time in the CCI* to move up to 16th place. The 1* is unbelievably tight with the top 33 horses being under 60 penalties apart and the show jumping here is always very influential.
In the CCI** Before Time made very light work of the cross country to finish nicely inside the time to move up to 8th . He has now had a lot of intermediate experience and made the course feel very easy. Freddie Mac however has had much less experience with only four intermediate runs under his belt so I was delighted with the ride he gave me. He felt happy and full of confidence, also finishing full if running. He has moved up to 2nd pace and with the top four scores tightly bunched the show jumping later this afternoon will be exciting!
Tom Grant, who is a working pupil with me, went superbly across country in his first CCI2* to move into 2nd place in the under 21 section. He had done a decent dressage of 47 on Friday, which was a personal best, so I am hoping the show jumping goes well for him today.
