Aldon
It was the last one-day event of the 2012 season for me yesterday at Aldon with novices Henton For Fun and Star Time having their last runs. Both horses finished on a very good note.
Henton For Fun managed to score 26.5 in his dressage, coping very well in quite sticky underfoot conditions. He then had one down on the show jumping but jumped very well and gave me a good ride across country over quite a testing novice track. I took him quietly, picking up 5.2 time penalties and he finished 4th. He has now done four novices and I am very happy with where he is at in his training. He will now have a good holiday and the plan will be to do a CCI* with him next spring.
Star Time did a pleasing test in the conditions to score 34 in the dressage, which was quite a good score in his section. He rolled an unlucky pole in the show jumping and went well across country, also quite quietly picking up 7.6 time penalties to finish 8th. The course caused plenty of trouble so I was able to get placed on both horses despite the time penalties which was a nice end to the season.
My rider, Kelly Prather is at Aldon today with three BE100 horses and next week I am hopefully off to Pau CCI4* for our final outing of 2012. We will certainly be hoping that the rain which sadly caused havoc and resulted in the Young Horse Championships a Le Lion d’Angers to be abandoned does not travel south to us in Pau next week.
