Nunney
We had a good day at Nunney on Friday. I was very lucky to manage to avoid all the showers and the ground was perfect. It was the first time that I had ridden at Nunney, and it was a lovely event, very relaxed with a good feeling and excellent courses.
Andrew had been riding Henton For Fun this season, so this was my first go on him, and he felt very good. He did a nice test of 28, jumped a lovely clear show jumping over a fairly decent and technical Novice track, and he then gave me a lovely and confident feeling cross country and jumped a good clear.
The Graduate also did a very nice dressage, but was a little tense in the show jumping to knock a couple down which he doesn’t normally do. Having not had an event for a month he felt a little on edge and unfocused, but he was great cross country and gave me a very confident clear round.
Their next event will be Barbury which is in quite a while so we will need to do some homework first so they are not too fresh.
Daddy’s Quest is a young horse we have got for Gill Makey-Harfield, she was doing her first event. She has come back into work a bit late but we were very pleased with how she coped with the atmosphere, and she did a lovely double clear.
Hector was also there with two 6 year olds; Red Kite had a good outing, she did a nice dressage and one pole down, and was confidently clear cross country. Yes I Can also did a good dressage, had two poles down show jumping which he doesn’t normally down, and Hector was very pleased with how confident he felt cross country.
So it was certainly a busy day on Friday for Team Fox-Pitt but it was good to have all the young ones out again. They have now had their half term break and move on for our hopefully busy Autumn.
