I was at Calmsden on Friday, and had a very happy day with my two 8yo's - Hussard Brun was 5th in the Open Novice and Cusco was 9th in the Novice.  Both jumped double clears, did good dressage but not quite good enough to be winners. The cross country course was super inviting and had a few interesting questions, but obviously wasnt very difficult for my two more experienced novices.  The ground was surprisingly good, it hadn't rained that much at Calmsden but the aerovating had worked really well and they had done a great job, so I felt it was good enough to press on with, and we had a good day

I was at Chard on Saturday.  They had a lot of rain on Friday, in fact someone said they had 2inches.  They had spiked the ground but certainly it had become quite chewed up, so I decided not to run Jabbake. She has not met the mud before and I though that it was quite extreme to be meeting, but she did a very pleasing test of 31, and is coming on nicely.  I think she was 4th or 5th after dressage.  She show jumped well, rolled a pole, and I turned a circle so we ended up with a few penalties because I wasted time.

Vicky Brake's Hardingville Lagoon had his second win, my second of the year, he led from start to finish on 23.

I also rode Granstown Star Love and he went very well, it was the first run I have had on him since he has been back. He did a 31 which put him 1st or 2nd after dressage.  A lovely clear show jumping and he felt great cross country. I got plenty of time faults but it was only his first run back. He is a big easy 6yo and finished third so we had a very happy day.
