Pontispool

It has been a productive day at Pontispool; we had a lovely morning but the rain did come a little bit in the afternoon.  They had done a fair bit of work on the ground but it was still on the firm side, so I took them all fairly quietly.

Grafennacht kicked off the day in the dressage at 0806 and she did a very nice test of 27 which put her in the lead.  She had a couple of frustrating poles and then popped very nice around the cross country, which was a bonus as I had anticipated probably not running her on what I thought was going to be firm ground.

Then I had Emerald Spirit II; he scored 32 in the dressage, there were some nice moments but it wasn’t as good as last week.  The show jumping was not much to sing about as he had 4 down, which was a shame.  He was very good around the cross country and was very honest at all the skinnies.

Summer At Fernhill was on good form and led the dressage on 27.3.  He then jumped a nice clear and was great cross country and I was quite surprised to get 4 time faults with his good steady round. He felt good and is now hopefully ready for an Osberton top performance.

Under Oath did a very decent test to lie second on 24.2.  He coped really well in the show jumping and jumped a decent clear, he then cruised around the cross country with 8.7 time faults.  I did actually let him bowl on a little bit because for one reason or another he always seems to be allowed to get rather too many time faults, so I pushed on and he wasn’t too surprised.  He probably won’t run at the weekend at Bricky and his next outing is the 6yo class at Osberton which I think he is really ready for.

Alex had a good 2nd Novice outing with The Spice Merchant, she was very pleased with her dressage, rolled a pole show jumping and then popped very nicely around the cross country.

Kazu also had a good run on Bernadette Utopia with a better dressage than Gatcombe, silly last fence down and a nice steady clear.  So he is hopefully happy with his Boekelo preparation.
