The 2022 season came to a happy conclusion at Bicton with both Max McInerney and Duke Legacy going very well.

Duke Legacy had not been out for a while since his unfortunate fall at Wellington, and I really didn't feel that he was at all rusty.
He did a really pleasing test to score 30.8, he didn't make a single mistake and I could not have been happier with how he felt.   He jumped a fabulous show jumping round with one down having a bit of a spook, and the cross country he felt very on the job and confident.  It was a lovely inviting course, perhaps not too technical or scary but there was plenty to jump.  After all the rain the ground was amazingly good, it was so enjoyable to ride on some soft ground.

Duke Legacy will now enjoy a couple of weeks off then I think we will keep him ticking over through the winter so he doesnt loose himself too much.

Max McInerney was having his first 3*S and he was also right up for it, he did a super test to score 30.2. He didn't make any mistakes either and I can say I came away feeling that the judging had been on the stingy side.  They got a lot of 6.5's and 7.5's.....
Max's show jumping round was great, he didn't touch a thing, and I also opened him up a bit on the course, but did not ask too much, and he gave me a tremendous feel as well.  He really enjoys his job and I think next season will be exciting with these two 3* horses.

Bicton have had the craziest of weekends, running hundreds of horses in some pretty miserable conditions.  The place/team coped amazingly and hopefully it will all recover well by 2023.  I don't envy the team in putting everything back together.
