Kentucky - Cross Country
What a shame it all came to an end today with a fall at the third last. He had been giving me a brilliant ride and was pretty much up on the clock, but to no avail. Rio found the distance between logs a bit tight, left a leg and couldn’t stand up. So game over!
As an overview, I am very pleased with how he was going. He had been a bit fussy with his bit in the mouth, but had been really genuine and very confident which, to look on the bright side, bodes well for another day. I am very relieved he had been going so well as it shows that it was a good decision to bring him out and he was more than up for the challenge. It was great for Team GB that Harry and Oli went so well, no surprise to have Oli in the lead but for Harry, having come back from his big set back last year, it was a real boost and totally deserved.
Happily Rio and I are fine, and we will have a nice day off tomorrow. Alex is spoiling him and there is lots of nice grass to munch on. I have got a day to recover and then the clinics with Rhonda Sexton start on Monday.
