Wellington
It has been a very moderate day at Wellington today, but no dramas. I have got to say that none of them performed very well but it will hopefully have been a useful outing to have had.
Dressage was overall well below par, but they didn’t do bad tests, two in the 20s and three in the low 30’s. Show jumping likewise, they all jumped well but no clear rounds. I ran three cross country, Grafennacht was having her first Intermediate outing, and she took it all in her stride and jumped a lovely clear. Atlantic Vital Spark had a good spin round but he was slipping a bit so I decided to pull him up. And Georgisaurous was having his first Intemediate outing for a while, and my stronger bit was a total result for control, but he did once or twice rather overreact so I failed to turn him into a corner getting a 20. The Graduate and Little Fire didn’t run, but that was always my plan.
Wellington had done a great job producing everything so well, we were very lucky with the rain and they had been clearly working on the ground. The courses were educational. David Sheerin and his team certainly put on two great days.
I am now home for a few days before heading up to Burghley were I am looking forward to my club course walk and catching up with sponsors.
