Wellington - 3* and 100's
I rode two of Vicky's horses, Lucky and Hardy today in the 100, and I had very pleasing first outings on them both. Both did super tests; Lucky did 27, Harry 26. Both a bit green at times in the show jumping but I was very pleased with their rounds. They both had one fence down, and actually they both could have jumped clear rounds but they were still quite green. On the cross country they went really well, really smoothly, they grew up a lot for their run, and it has been a very happy day, They need a couple more runs as they are late starting their season, so hopefully a few runs now and they will both come on leaps and bounds.
Boysie did a very focussing test. It was quite an electric atmosphere in the main arena with the cross country all around, but he contained himself brilliantly and got 28. He actually had a wrong strike off, and a canter in the half pass, so he did do some things wrong, and if he hadn't then he would have been right up there.
In the show jumping today he knocked the last fence down, jumped a super round and as his owner would say - the first or last fence is rider error, so I will take the blame, but I was really pleased with his round. Again it was a very buzzy atmosphere but he was very serious and professional, and jolly unlucky.
