Wellington
I was very excited to have Grafennacht out for the first time since Badminton. She has been a bit delayed this autumn because she spent two months at Twemlows trying for embryo transfers, none of which sadly worked. I had not run her at Hartpury because I didn’t feel she was fit enough, but she felt totally ready to run at Wellington. She did a very pleasing test with a couple of small wobbles, and got an unremarkable 30. Her show jumping round was a little uninspiring, having jumped so well at Hartpury I was disappointed she rolled 3 poles. Having said that I have jumped many times at Wellington and never had any clear rounds! She then flew the cross country, felt fantastic. Unbelievably the ground was on the firm side but the event had done a great job with their spiking and making it as good as they could. It was quite a new look course going in the opposite direction, David and his team had done a great job thinking of some new questions.
I then had 3 in the Novice….Santini had another good day, did a very pleasing test of 32, rolled a pole show jumping but jumped a very decent round and his cross country felt much more forward going and confident
Hussard Brun had his best day yet with a 31 dressage, double clear inside the time to finish 3rd and be off the mark with some points. He felt in a new gear of confidence and took everything in his stride.
BLS Absolutely also had another good day, adding a second to his recent tally, and has upgraded to Intermediate as a result. He did a lovely dressage, scored 26. Jumped a good clear show jumping again and flew the cross country. Rather incompetently I got a couple of time faults which cost him the win.
Sara was very excited to have Dicte out again who did a super double clear. Unfortunately she had a fall of Cusco in the Novice but that will hopefully help her with some future stickability.
