Belton Saturday
Oratorio and Little Fire have done their 4* dressage and overall I was very happy. Neither of them excelled but they both coped well in the atmosphere and did some good work and that is why they are here. Little Fire’s mark was probably a little generous and Oratorio’s a bit stingy, but it is not big deal.
Yes I Can was having another run after his slightly off centre performance last weekend, he did a pretty decent test with some of his work moving up a notch to score 27. He jumped a superb show jumping round but knocked the last fence down which he totally didn’t deserve for the second week in a row. He then happily flew around the cross country without a worry. So we are moving forward and Weston Park Advanced next is quite realistic.
Atlantic Vital Spark was a little bit unsettled in the dressage and got 39, he is still a bit excited that the season has begun. He jumped a lovely clear show jumping which in the big arena at Belton is no main feat. He gave me a great ride cross country over a course which asked some good questions, but we had a stupid 20 which I am not worried about.
So today it is on to Little Fire and Oratorio’s 4* jumping parts. There are a couple of decent questions on the course and I am sure show jumping will be pretty decent so it will be a good test.
