Wood Lane Update
The second half part of the season is very much underway and Grafennacht is now back in action. She has been away for a couple of months doing embryo transfers with sadly no joy. Happily she has come back feeling well, and has now had a good run around Wellington in her preparation to go Maryland in October.
She missed out on being fit enough for Burghley due to being away, and I hope that the Maryland trip will be a god one for her. She has got one more run around Corbury next week and then she will hopefully be ready.
The young horses are going well and are looking good. BLS Absolutely, who is only six, has upgraded to Intermediate with a very consistent run and he is aiming for the 6YO final at Cornbury.
I am currently breaking in my homebred 3yo by Tomatillo. We have called her Winnie and she is a pretty smart youngster with a very nice approach and a good student. She is actually in foal to Glencarrig Tempest in the hope of producing a usedul conny cross.
The foals are looking good, the last one was born just a few weeks ago and he was out of Tacoma d’horset, Kazu’s Badminton and World Championship ride. He is a very exciting little colt.
Sadly Stefan has decided to move on as he felt our yard was a little bit quiet, and he has gone to work for David Doel and is at Burghley as we speak, which must be very exciting. Meg has left as well as she is off to College, so things are quite busy on the yard which is how it should be. For next season we will be looking for someone else who can turn their hand to anything, but also ride. But right now we have got Jackie very much managing Kazu and his quest for FEI points in his Olympic bid. Sara is aiming for Boekelo and will then come with me to Maryland. Thierry is trying to find a nice new horse for next season. Seito will be leaving us at the end of the season, he is putting Dillon on the market. That was always his plan but Dillon has been the perfect horse to introduce Seito to eventing and will be a very useful addition to a younger rider’s team.
I am very much looking forward to my course walk at Burghley tomorrow and then my focus will be on Cornbury, Maryland and then the Pan Am Games with the Brazillian team.
